Relic studios are VERY strict with their sound files, you have to download a heap of software to extract it then to decode it and a whole heap of stuff.

Yes, two executables are needed.
One for opening their game archives.
And another for converting the sounds to wav (or preferably mp3, as size matters more than quality in wc3)

Ugh, I'll toil around with Audacity, see what I come up with.

Using Stereo Mix worked great, it has good quality too!
