To all laggers playing SC2... a rant (Fits in one message on Bnet.)

Yo "guy with slow PC" do everyone a favor and play minesweeper instead of Starcraft 2. Just because you can get SC2 to somehow run on that piece of scrap metal you call a PC doesn't entitle you to make us all wait for you to load.

Ha. That pretty much describes my computer. It was purchased sometime between '01-'04 and has never been upgraded. I don't know how I'm playing SC2 on it. I'm pretty sure it only has 2 GB of RAM as well.

Reason for edit: small spelling mistake.

I used to have 1.5GB ram and still ran sc2 fine.

EDIT: Current machine has 4.

I wish I could remember the recommended min. for RAM (I thought it was like 2-3 GB, my computer is usually on the verge of dieing and I can't ever stay in a mulitplayer game for longer than 1 minute without lagging out). Oh well. I have almost $2000 saved up, so I guess it's about time for me to upgrade my PC.

I recall seeing 500MB ram usage in SC2 back in beta.

I heard people brag about how they built a sub-800$ PC that runs SC2 with graphics set to Ultra.

build-gaming-computers.com/gaming-desktop-computer.html

I came across that site when I was getting some more information on gaming computers (I'm a complete computer newb).
I don't know how good those 3 setups are, but the first one is less than $600 according to that site.

Since we're on the subject anyway, do you have any suggestions for me? I've visited several websites to get a good idea of what I should be getting, but if you have advice for me that would still be great.

Edit: It seems like Blizzard's games have always been playable by average computers.

Well they left out the OS (another 100$) from that first rig, but otherwise it is quite good.

If you are inexperienced you should buy a prebuilt PC, not individual parts. You also get warranty that way. (I have 3 years warranty for mine, already saved 400$ due to free repairs.)

Here is another:

Laggers! They think the world is theirs just because they somehow managed to get SC2 running on that piece of scrap metal they call a "computer". I'll tell you what to do: Uninstall SC2 and play Minesweeper until you've got a dedicated video card. Idiots!
